Blogging decisions

My best friend decided that it would be fun to blog. Yet I don't see the point. What is a blog but a bunch of random messages sent to keep others up to date on their lives? When we have our stalker facebook site why would we need a blog. I do agree that it is quite simpler to write about anything in a blog. No matter how long. Who knows this may be fun.
